PRIVACY POLICY

Declaration concerning the applicable privacy protection
Local and European legislation requires that we inform you of our data protection practices and the use of cookies on the Panasonic Energy Europe NV website (hereafter referred to as the ‘website’): this data protection declaration describes how we collect, process, use and protect information collected on our website about the personal and material status of you as an individual or identifiable individual (‘personal details’). This declaration and our cookie policy covers those personal details that you give to us yourself or details that are collected when you use the website. By using this website, you automatically agree to the terms and conditions in this declaration. The website is managed by Panasonic Energy Europe, Brusselsesteenweg 502, 1731 Zellik, Belgium (‘Panasonic’, ‘we/us’, ‘our/ours’), and Panasonic is responsible for processing personal details.

We protect your details
We apply the required organisational, technical, and administrative measures in order to protect the personal details under our control, such as controlling the access to and the transfer, input, availability, and separation of data. Unfortunately, no methods of data transfer via the internet nor data storage systems are guaranteed 100% secure. Should you suspect that your interaction with us is no longer secure (if, for example, you believe that the safety of any account with us is endangered), then we ask you to inform us immediately (see Contact us, below).

Period for the retention of collected data
We shall only hold on to your personal details for the period necessary for the purpose explained in this declaration or another declaration sent to you, unless a longer period is required by law. In any case, we shall not retain your personal details any longer than the legally authorised retention period. Your personal details shall then be removed and/or returned, in accordance with the appropriate legislation or as indicated in the cookie policy.

Use by children
The website is not intended for and should not be used by those under the age of eighteen (18) years old. We therefore ask such persons not to send personal details via the website. Minors require the express permission of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to be able to view or provide personal details.

Collection of personal details
Besides the automatic collection of personal details based on our cookie policy, we also collect personal details for other purposes:

  • Panasonic collects the personal details that you enter using the contact forms on this website, including your name, address or other personal details included by you in the respective form, in order to process your requests and questions. Users may request the removal of their personal details at any time.
  • Panasonic also collects e-mail addresses and postcodes when you register specifically for our promotional messages and newsletters. We only do this after having received your express permission (hence our use of a double opt-in) stating that Panasonic may send you promotional messages and newsletters. Users may unsubscribe at any time in order to stop receiving promotional messages and newsletters. Panasonic offers various options to unsubscribe. For example, you can follow the instructions about unsubscribing in our promotional messages and newsletters.

Sensitive personal details
We ask you not to reveal any sensitive personal details on the website or in any other way (e.g. passport or social security numbers, information regarding your racial or ethnic origins, sexual orientation, political, religious, or other convictions, health, criminal record, or membership in a trade union). Panasonic will only collect or process the sensitive personal details related to your bank account to the extent that this is necessary for payment purposes and only if the user has provided them voluntarily.

Categories of recipients

  • We refer here to data processors working on our behalf as service providers. Service providers will process personal details in accordance with our instructions and on the basis of individual agreements related to data processing in order to guarantee that these are protected under the applicable law concerning data protection. Service providers provide services such as website hosting, data analysis, provision of infrastructure, IT services, customer services, e-mail services, audit services, and other similar services. Should a service provider be based in a country outside the EU/EEA and should the law of that country fail to provide a similar level of data protection to the EU/EEA, then we shall ensure that the service provider shall respect the required level of data protection from the EU/EEA by agreeing to specific model clauses. The European Commission provides an appropriate template for such cases (‘EU Model Terms and Conditions’).
  • You may also release personal details on our forums, chat boxes, profiles pages, blogs, and other places provided by our service providers on which you can place information and material. Remember that information that you submit or place using these services shall become public and accessible to those visiting the website and the general public. We strongly advise that you are very careful when deciding to release any personal details or other information on the website.

Links to third party websites
This declaration does not affect, and we have no responsibility for, the privacy, information, or other practices of any third parties, including third parties operating websites that are connected to our website with a link. The presence of a link on the website does not imply that we or one of our associated companies approve the linked website.

We may occasionally need to amend this declaration. We therefore recommend that you read this declaration regularly to check for any changes. Before changing the declaration significantly, we will inform you and, if required, request your express permission to continue using your personal details.
